There has been the row over the price of repairing stages in Wales, which threatened to derail the sport in its heartland completely. There has been the bickering and moaning over World Rally Championship running orders. There has been the superb bit-part season by Kris Meeke as Citroen prepares for a challenge in 2017.
But now we can forget all of that and get back to enjoying the sport as we know it. It is time for Wales Rally GB. Pack the wellies and a Thermos flask and select your favourite vantage point. The boys are back in town and they will be giving it everything for victory.
While there are some elements of the World Rally Championship that need some serious consideration to galvanise its future, there is nothing quite like going out there and seeing (and hearing) the best in the world gunning for glory on one of the best rallies on the calendar.
There will be plenty to cheer for the home fans too, with both Kris Meeke and Craig Breen in factory cars giving it everything for the supporters, and there is a host of other British talents spread throughout the entry list. Make sure you are there to spur them on. Matt James, Editor
