Oliphant to Porsche Challenge Middle East

Porsche Carrera Cup GB driver Tom Oliphant will contest the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Middle East over the winter as part of his preparations for the 2017 season.

Oliphant was fourth in his first year in the Carrera Cup, having graduated from the Ginetta GT4 Supercup as 2015 champion.

He will now contest the Lechner Racing-run challenge, which starts with a test at the Bahrain International Circuit this Saturday, with support from members of the Redline Racing team with which he contested the Carrera Cup.

“Through the winter you can’t really test in the UK, so it’s logical – plus there are six races, so I’ll never stop racing; I shouldn’t be rusty when it comes to the start of next season,” said Oliphant.

The opening round will take place at the Sakhir circuit on November 19.
