Sports 2000 class to join Classic Clubmans grids

Sports 2000 cars from up to 1984 will run in an invitation class in the HSCC Classic Clubmans Championship in 2017 after a successful trial this year.

The two types of sports-racing cars have proved compatible ontrack and regular Sports 2000 racer Roger Waite says that having five two-litre Ford Pinto-engined Sports 2000 on the Classic Clubmans grid at Silverstone last month shows that the concept is gathering momentum.

“The Silverstone entry was very encouraging. We want to continue that into 2017,” said Waite. “The cars are sat in garages and there has been a lot of interest shown.”
