Lewis escapes

There seems to be a huge amount of partisan fuss about the fact that Lewis Hamilton was not penalised for his first corner faux pas when Max Verstappen was clobbered later on.

I have some sympathy with that view, however… giving Hamilton a fivesecond penalty would not have changed the result, and a place swap with Nico Rosberg at the time wouldn’t have worked as he went off too!

On a slightly different note, I’m a little tired of listening to Eddie Jordan (for whom I have huge respect) going on about Hamilton having taken his eye off the ball following the summer break.

If Lewis’s engine hadn’t blown up he’d still be leading the title fight. Fact. Steve Cobbold Via email
