Lo­tus Cup’s Mackay and Balon to GT4

Lo­tus Cup driv­ers Adam Mackay and Adam Balon will team up to share a new Mclaren 570S GT4 in this year’s Bri­tish GT Cham­pi­onship.

Last year’s Lo­tus Cup UK cham­pion Mackay will race the car along­side third-place fin­isher Balon for the Track­Club team, which has pur­chased the Mclaren for its re­turn to Bri­tish GT.

The team has spo­rad­i­cally raced in Bri­tish GT in re­cent years, usu­ally in the show­piece Sil­ver­stone round. It en­tered an Aston Martin and a Lo­tus Evora re­spec­tively in 2014 and ’15 un­der the Track Group name. The team has reg­u­larly raced in the Aston Martin GT4 Chal­lenge and the UK Lo­tus classes.

For­mer Scot­tish For­mula Ford cham­pion Mackay won last year’s Lo­tus ti­tle in an Ex­ige V6. Balon has Bri­tish GT ex­pe­ri­ence from a one-off in the Evora in 2015, hav­ing raced Cater­hams and Lo­tus.
