One driver that plans to stay retired from F1 for this year, Jenson Button, reckons the new rule changes for this season could still play into Mercedes’ hands. This year’s cars will feature significantly more aerodynamics, something Button says may still favour the Silver Arrows. “For anybody to catch Mercedes is a big ask, it really is,” said Button at last weekend’s Race of Champions event. “Nobody knows [what will happen] with completely different regulations. With the way they [the cars] are now, there’s a lot more drag, so you need massive amounts of power, which Mercedes seem to have. I think if anyone challenges them, then they’ll have done a great job over the winter.”
