Team Peugeot-hansen up to three cars, and re-signs Sebastien Loeb

-

Team Peugeot-hansen will field three Peugeot 208 Supercars in the 2017 World Rallycross Championship.

The squad has retained the services of nine-time World Rally champion Sebastien Loeb and five-time World RX event-winner Timmy Hansen in the main squad, which will run 2017 specification cars. Former British Junior RX champion Kevin Hansen has also graduated full-time to the team, having won the Euro RX Supercar title last season. The younger Hansen brother will race a 2016 specification 208 WRX.

In his first full year in the sport last season, Loeb won the 10th round of the series in Latvia and finished the year fifth overall.

“I believe I learnt a great deal in the course of my first full rallycross season,” said Loeb. “I’ve obviously set my sights higher this time around and I hope the 2017 version of the 208 WRX will enable us to challenge for victory. Given the stiffer competition we face, it won’t be easy, but I am determined to add to my record in this discipline.”

The works-built cars will continue to be developed by Peugeot Sport at its Velizy workshops, while the Hansen Motorsport team will run the cars.

“I’m very happy to be a full-fledged world rallycross driver at last,” said Kevin Hansen. “I’d like to find the feeling I had last year in the 208 WRX and then build on that. I will do my very best and try to eke out a place amongst the sport’s elite.”
