ST Trophy champ Davies to BRC with 208

-

Ford Fiesta ST Trophy champion Cameron Davies will step up to the Junior British Rally Championship in 2017 with a Peugeot 208 R2.

The Welshman, 22, won all but one round of the ST Trophy he entered in 2016, winning support from DMACK for 2017.

“I’ve been looking at all the R2 cars and looking for the one that would give me the best chance of winning the class,” said Davies. “With my budget being a bit short it was a struggle looking at a new [Peugeot] 208 or a [Vauxhall] Adam so originally it was looking more like a [Citroen] C2 R2 MAX. But then one [208] came up in Poland which was within my budget.

“I think it’s the best overall car for the job for us. It’s good on Tarmac and gravel, that’s why we made the decision to go for it.”

Davies added that the prize fund is also a big draw. This year the prize for the JBRC is £30,000 cash.

“It’s a big draw and makes stepping up to the series more attractive for what we can do in the next few years,” added Davies.
