Former British Touring Car champion and World Rallycross podium finisher Andrew Jordan will join a number of rallycross drivers competing in a charity karting event at Buckmore Park next month (Feb 17) in memorial of Ryan Lawford, who died five years ago.

A talented engineer and rallycross driver, Lawford competed in the popular Stock Hatch category, Swift Sport Rallycross Championship and in Supernational.

He worked with 1992 European Rallycross champion Will Gollop’s G-tech team, running a Ford Focus Supercar for Jordan in 2006 and 2007, before he moved into the BTCC to work for the Jordan family’s Eurotech Racing squad.

“Ryan was a good friend, I’d known him since 2005 when I was doing rallycross in the Junior Mini,” said Jordan. “We had lots of good times and a lot of fun.

“It’s great for everyone to get back together and remember Ryan, he was really quick in a kart himself and it’s a nice way to get his friends and family together. I wouldn’t miss it.”

Other drivers taking part in the 90-minute endurance race include reigning British Supernational champion Tristan Ovenden and Super1600 racer Darren Scott.

Money will be raised for the Prevention of Young Suicide charity, PAPYRUS. Entries for over 16s are still available, contact
