Watson returns to British RX with Citroen
Former British Rallycross event-winner ‘Mad Mark’ Watson says he will focus on a full British RX Supercar campaign in 2018, driving his ex-laurent Terroitin Citroen Xsara for an 11th consecutive season.
Last year, Watson competed in a dual campaign in the British RX and BTRDA series.
“I will be concentrating solely on British RX this year,” he said. “Doing two championships along with all the shows and promotional events we do was just too much last year. We found British RX to be the most competitive and satisfying to compete in and we will once again try to put the Xsara on the top step of the podium. The couple of niggles we had in 2017, with the clutch and steering rack, have been dealt with; they have been totally replaced with new systems,” he continued.
Jonny Milner’s Merlin International firm will continue to build the engine in Watson’s Xsara, which also features developments to the injection system, turbo, intercooler, suspension and drivetrain. Watson’s 2018 livery will be launched in Coventry soon as part of an event for sponsor, Mendahose Hydraulics, before he tests the car in France at Essay.
