Porsche Club Championship to welcome more cars as part of dealer initiative
A new Porsche Cars Great Britain initiative – targeting its retail centres and recommended body repairers – is set to put at least 16 more Boxsters on the Porsche Club Championship grid at three events in the model’s 20th anniversary season.
The Restoracing competition will feature personnel from the companies racing each other in identically-configured 3.2litre, 250bhp manual models with stock engines and suspension and control semislick Pirelli Trofeo R tyres.
Kicking off on Brands Hatch’s GP circuit on May 5/6, it will visit Silverstone GP on June 2 and Brands Hatch’s Porsche Festival on the Indy Circuit on September 2.
“Harking back 40 years to the 924 championship, which engaged dealers [and helped Tony Dron and Andy Rouse towards 1980 Le Mans drives in a 924 GTP], Restoracing is the flip-side to the Carrera Cup,” said James Toye, PCGB aftersales business development manager.
“From dealer principals to young guys in the workshops, everybody is clamouring to take part. It’s highly motivational and will showcase hidden talent.”
