MG3S could get one-make series with MG Car Club
The MG Car Club is considering introducing a new series for the MG3 in 2019 and has tweaked the regulations to the MG Cup for this year to allow the model to race.
Since the car was first launched in 2011 none have raced with the club but, now that some of the MG3S are beginning to appear in the second-hand market, the idea of a one-make series for them is being explored.
The MGCC’S Pete Macwaters said: “We’re looking at a possible standalone championship for 2019 to give us a new championship – our last was the MG Trophy. We are trying to get a bit of interest and see how they get on in the MG Cup. We want to see the MG3 racing.”
Former X Factor contestant Sam Callahan is set to race an MG3 this year. His car was at the Autosport International show earlier this month in a bid to generate interest.
It is one of at least two MG3S set to race this year that have been built by Knight Industries.
