Sunseeker’s summer party lights up the night sky

Underwater lights used to be the preserve of superyachts but now everyone seems to have them – just check out this shot of the boats attending ultimate 2016, Sunseeker’s annual summer party. This year it was held at La Fortaleza on the island of Mallorca, the lavish private villa which featured in the BBC series The Night Manager. The invitation-only event is open to new and existing owners of the brand so if you’re hoping to get the call-up next year, you know where to buy your next boat. And don’t forget to specify the underwater lights!

Twenty-five boats were damaged at Grimsby & Cleethorpes Yacht Club in the early hours of a Saturday morning. It’s believed that recently fitted high-definition CCTV security cameras and seven LED floodlights were not switched on.

MEDWAY FIRE

Firefighters prevented a boat fire spreading in the busy Medway Bridge Marina in Rochester, Kent. A 1970s-built, 28ft motor cruiser was undergoing a major refit on land when the blaze broke out. A Kent Fire & Rescue Service spokeswoman said, “The cause is believed to be accidental, possibly due to a cigarette.”
