Underwater lights used to be the pre­serve of su­pery­achts but now every­one seems to have them – just check out this shot of the boats at­tend­ing ul­ti­mate 2016, Sun­seeker’s an­nual sum­mer party. This year it was held at La For­taleza on the is­land of Mal­lorca, the lav­ish pri­vate villa which fea­tured in the BBC se­ries The Night Man­ager. The in­vi­ta­tion-only event is open to new and ex­ist­ing own­ers of the brand so if you’re hop­ing to get the call-up next year, you know where to buy your next boat. And don’t for­get to spec­ify the underwater lights!

Twenty-five boats were dam­aged at Grimsby & Cleethor­pes Yacht Club in the early hours of a Satur­day morn­ing. It’s be­lieved that re­cently fit­ted high-def­i­ni­tion CCTV se­cu­rity cam­eras and seven LED flood­lights were not switched on.


Fire­fight­ers pre­vented a boat fire spread­ing in the busy Medway Bridge Ma­rina in Rochester, Kent. A 1970s-built, 28ft mo­tor cruiser was un­der­go­ing a ma­jor re­fit on land when the blaze broke out. A Kent Fire & Res­cue Ser­vice spokes­woman said, “The cause is be­lieved to be ac­ci­den­tal, pos­si­bly due to a cig­a­rette.”
