Doris the £1m dredger
25-tonne investment has unique extendable arm
doris the dredger started sea trials at Brighton Marina in east Sussex and expects to be in action next season.
designed by Goodchild Marine Services in norfolk, the £1 million investment measures 14m and weighs 25 tonnes. the steel one-man dredger allows owners Premier Marinas to dredge with less disruption to the marina, one of Britain’s busiest.
“doris features a unique extendable arm that can dredge below and between bridgeheads, pontoons and fingers, reducing the need to remove pontoon fingers and reinstate berths after a dredging campaign,” said maintenance manager russell Asser.
Premier has a ten-year licence from the Marine Management organisation to pump dredged material to the dispersal site and into the ecosystem.
