Galeon

460 Fly

-

The Galeon 500 won copious awards last year for its clever folding side decks, and now the 460 hopes to repeat that feat on a slightly smaller scale. If anything, the effect is even more impressive because space is at more of a premium. It’s hard to describe just how transformative it is to slide back the windows on both sides of the galley, push the cockpit doors all the way across and then fold down the terraces on either side. It’s not just the sudden increase in useable deck space, it’s the fact that the whole galley and cockpit area feels more like an open-air beach bar than two cramped separate spaces.

Nor do these clever tricks compromise any other aspect of the boat. There’s a very impressive fullbeam owner’s cabin below decks with full standing headroom all around the bed, a wonderfully light VIP cabin forward and a perfectly good bunk cabin to starboard. There’s even a small crew cabin in the stern. As if that’s not enough, the foredeck has a proper sitting and dining area to rival that on Sunseeker’s far larger Manhattan 52.

Throw in a high level of finish, a sensible inc VAT price and a reliable pair of shaftdrive 435hp Volvo D6 engines and you have the makings of a very attractive alternative to boats as diverse as the Prestige 450 and Princess 49.
