Fiart
52
Fiart like to do things differently and there’s no mistaking the striking, angular styling of its new 52 for any other brand of boat. However, unlike the current range of open Med-centric sportscruisers, this one hopes to appeal to a worldwide audience with the aid of a full-length hardtop that can be closed off and either heated or cooled to suit any destination.
The boat at the show didn’t have the optional cockpit doors fitted but even with these in place it would still feel unusually bright and open thanks to the preponderance of glass used in the hardtop’s construction. The modern, minimalistic styling of the cockpit with the galley hidden behind a series of plain white lockers and surfaces without so much as a handle or grab- rail in sight enhances the effect but might feel a little cold and featureless on a British winter’s day.
The contemporary styling theme continues below decks with a wide array of cleverly recessed lighting helping to boost the already high levels of natural light. The standard layout features a full-beam owner’s suite amidships with standing headroom at the foot of the bed only, a VIP master forward and a third athwartships double guest cabin, although there are plenty of customisation options including a galley down option.
The 52 is still likely to be a leftfield choice for most British buyers but thanks to strong performance from IPS800 drives and a more versatile interior it is now a viable one.
