Fusion recently launched a complex hi-fi system called the Apollo Series, but if your needs are more modest there is now a cheaper alternative. Panel-stereo is a device slim enough (43mm) to flush mount with little intrusion, or simply surface mount it using a spacer kit. All that it requires is power and an aerial. Two in-built 3in speakers give stereo sound and a bass radiator helps with the deeper notes. You can source your music from AM/FM radio, through an aux-in audio connector, from a USB stick, or via Bluetooth and a device such as a smartphone. DSP (Digital Signal Processing) maintains audio quality to the Class D 2x43w amp. Buttons on the front control panel are simple functions such as volume, pause, play and track search and it uses ‘audible feedback’ to let you know what’s going on. Alternatively, you can control it via an app from your Apple or Android device, or even a compatible Garmin smart watch. IP65 water resistance means that it should shrug off rain and spray but not, alas, total immersion. So don’t expect the band to play on Titanic-style if you are unfortunate enough to sink.
