Clamber aboard San Lorenzo’s latest boutique ‘explorer’ motor yacht and you might wonder if you are on a boat at all. With a special edition interior by Piero Lissoni, this first example of the new SX76 doesn’t just push the envelope, it signs, seals and delivers it to another planet.

With its wide open spaces and huge windows, the views from the main deck are spectacular. The raised forward section, where you might expect a helm station to be, is notable for its island galley, free-standing table and chairs, slick floor covering and absence of handholds. Two more conventional layouts are available for the main deck, both of which feature a companionway that takes up less space, an enclosed galley on the port side, and a formal eight-seat dining table forward with windows on three sides – a top spot for dinner.

Special Lissoni layouts are also available for the flybridge and lower deck. Offered as a four-cabin yacht in standard form, the SX76’S two-cabin Lissoni layout option is bound to prove popular, with its comfortable lower saloon on the port side, opening out the lower deck and making great use of the hull’s beam. The side windows on the flybridge can be raised and lowered electrically to suit the weather. There is also the option of fully enclosing it with a glass rear bulkhead, for total climate control – which might be just as well, because there is no lower helm option.
