4 SUNSEEKER REVEALS 8X SECRETS
Sunseeker has revealed more details about its next generation large boat. First announced in January 2019 under the code name project 8X, it heralds a completely new look and direction for the yard.
Now renamed the 87 Yacht, it will sit above the current 86 Yacht in the range but won’t replace it altogether, as it will offer a very different look and feel to the more conventional 86. Despite the nominal increase in length Sunseeker says the 87 Yacht offers a 20% increase in volume over the 86 due to a wider beam and a more vertical stem. Its stand out feature is a vast beach club area at the stern with a wet bar and crane built into the protective side coamings and a pair of huge sunloungers moulded into the garage door. When this swings up, the glass gates at the aft end of the main deck cockpit can be opened so that the two sunloungers become part of that entertaining area instead.
The garage and platform can house a Williams 460 Sportjet, a PWC and two Seabobs, in their own dedicated self-draining lockers.
Sunseeker is also promising a flybridge
25% larger than its rivals with an infinity hot tub, while the foredeck boasts an outdoor cinema with a 140-inch screen, three separate seating areas and sunbeds.
While the interior has yet to be revealed, Sunseeker says it will feature a ‘penthouse-style saloon’ with the galley forward on the same deck. All the cabins are on the lower deck, with either a four-cabin layout with a full beam master or a five-cabin layout for the charter market. A galley-down option, popular in some markets, will also be available.
