Arguably the most innovative of all the new launches at Cannes this year, the Bluegame BGX70 combines rugged, go-anywhere styling with a radical interior layout that really works. Like the Van der Valk Beachclub it features an aft saloon at water level with patio doors leading out to a spectacular beach club area, but instead of this being a relatively exposed bathing platform, it is protected on both sides by deep coamings with a built-in lift to launch and recover the over-sized tender, plus a large outdoor galley. The saloon also has direct access from the midships master cabin so the owner can stagger out of bed in the morning and wander straight through to the beach club for a pre-breakfast dip.
The show boat had the additional refinement of an ensuite owner’s office and day heads that can also be shut off and converted into an extra guest cabin when needed. The other VIP suite is forward of this with a crew cabin tucked in the bow.
Internal and external steps lead up from the lower saloon and beach club to the main deck cockpit and another open-plan living area incorporating the indoor dining area, galley and helm. As if this weren’t enough there’s another big outside entertaining space with seats, tables and sunpads in the deep foredeck well. There is no proper flybridge as such, just a flat wheelhouse roof with a big recessed sunpad.
Power comes from twin IPS 1200 or 1350s fitted under the floor of the beach club for a top speed of up to 30 knots.
