4 SESSA’S GLASSY NEW FX5
Italian design company Centrostile Design has released the first renderings of a new 50ft flybridge yacht it has designed for Sessa. Complementing the new Sessa 68 Fly Gullwing (see p14), it features a pair of elongated opening saloon windows that appear to drop down rather than hinge up.
The FX5’S other big surprise is a large forward cockpit with a dinette that converts to a vast sunbathing area. In fact, external living spaces and sunbeds are a key theme, with another small sunpad aft of the cockpit and yet more sunbathing alongside the helm on the flybridge.
The main deck features an L-shaped galley aft layout arranged along the port side, leaving space for the dinette to starboard and a small settee opposite. The retractable side windows stretch almost the full length of the saloon, opening it up to cooling sea breezes.
Volvo Penta IPS pod drives create space for a generous lower deck with a full beam master suite amidships, two guest cabins and a guest heads. There’s also a small crew cabin aft. Most of the cabins benefit from oversize windows in the topsides. Grey oak cabinets, nubuck upholstery, mirrors and lacquered wood give a contemporary feel.
The FX5 will be launched first in Brazil by Intech Boating, the Lombardy shipyard’s Palhoça-based dealer.
Centrostile Design says: “The design of the big outdoor spaces is based on how Brazilian owners typically use their boats, with multiple cooking units and big sunbathing areas that create a convivial atmosphere.”
