SUNPAD TO 70MPH 2 IN 15 SECONDS!

-

French manufacturer Sealver has launched the most extreme jet-ski powered RIB yet. While mating PWCS to mother hulls is nothing new, Sealver has taken the concept to the next level with its flagship model, the Z8. Not only is it the largest model to date with an LOA of 24ft 3in (7.40m), it also offers the option of a separate outboard powered module as well.

Like the rest of the Sealver range, the Z8 will fit almost every current PWC, says Rob Wilson at UK importer Wave Boat. A connectivity kit comprising two specially shaped side rails and a nose-cone ensure a snug fit.

The docking and de-coupling process is designed to be as quick and simple as possible. Wilson says they quote “sun-pad to 70 in just 15 seconds”, meaning users can be lazing in the bow one second and 15 seconds later be roaring along on the jet ski at 70mph. The extra weight and drag of the mother hull shaves off some of that performance but when coupled with the most powerful Sea-doo presently available, the 300GTX, the Z8 will still deliver a lightly loaded top speed of around 48 knots.

To ensure safe handling, the PWC is locked into place using two retractable webbing straps that pull out from reels on either side of the hull. These hook into the standard D-rings fitted to the transoms of all PWCS and are tensioned with the aid of a small ratchet lever. A button releases the tension when you want to uncouple it.

The basic price for a Z8 with the aforementioned Sea-doo 300GTX starts at just over £56,800 inc VAT but a wide range of options and accessories can push this up to £80,000 or more.

For those who want a more permanent power source, the Z8 is also available with a plug-in outboard module that includes a conventional centre console, side-by-side seating, wheel steering and fuel tank. It can handle up to a 300hp outboard engine.
