LUMISHORE LUX LIGHTING SYSTEM

-

It’s no exaggeration to say that LED lighting has transformed marine illumination over the last 20 years, with low power draw and low heat output the icing on the brightly lit cake. It’s fair to say that Lumishore is in the vanguard of that advancement.

Lumishore refers to its new LUX Lighting Collection as a ‘marine-grade, fully colourtunable, DC smart lighting, developed specifically for the marine environment’.

The LUX Lighting system comprises strip lights, Neon Flex ‘rope lighting’, down lights and courtesy lights, and it adds to the company’s existing line of underwater lights.

All can be centrally controlled from any combination of multifunction displays (MFDS), Lumishore touch-screen display, switches and any internet-capable device like a smartphone or tablet. Each fixture has five-channel CRGBW (Cold-white/red/green/blue/warm-white) LEDS. The benefit of CRGBW lights with cold and warm white over RGB/RGBW is to produce the highest CRI (colour rendition index), to ensure colours remain faithful to the way we see them in natural sunlight. By integrating these LEDS directly into the fixture, they are able to produce an almost infinite combination, not just of colours, but saturation and temperature too which, Lumishore says, has never been done before in a Dc-powered LED light.

All units are designed for both interior and exterior installation, even in the harshest of marine environments.

Users control the lighting on their vessel via an app on the MFD or their phone or tablet. A palette wheel controls colour selection, horizontal slide bars configure lighting intensity and white balance in each RGB colour, and control lighting across multiple zones with optional presets, as well as the ability to choose from pre-programmed effect modes like strobe, sweep or cycle and ‘Sound-to-light’, which links the lighting to music. In addition, the Lumi-link Command Centre has an input for ‘triggers’, allowing for programable lighting events through a vessel’s MFD. For example, when arriving at a boat’s home port at night, GPS coordinates can be set to ‘trigger’ the lights to go into ‘berthing scene’.

CHARGEMETRIX REMOTE BATTERY MONITORING

Isle of Wight-based Chargemetrix has launched an automatic remote monitoring system for all 12-volt batteries. It comprises a water-resistant sensor with a built-in mobile antenna plus a web app. The hardware takes less than 20 minutes to install and once connected, the user registers on the app (Apple or Android) and the data feed starts immediately. It works on 12V and 24V systems and connects directly to the battery terminals. It also reports position and you can add a temperature probe. The app can be set to notify you if certain parameters are breached (low voltage, temperature, location). The signal is sent on low-bandwidth 2G and 3G mobile networks with 99% coverage and costs £3.99/month. PRICE £49.99 CONTACT www.chargemetrix.com
