Of course, the TT isn’t just about the riders. The celebratio­n of 100 TT years has brought together the most eclectic cross-section of genuine former TT machinery you are ever likely to see assembled in one place.

1926 AJS GR10: This is the actual machine which finished third in the 1926 TT in the hands of Frank Longman. Beautifull­y restored by owner Paul Hipkins.

1932 ex H G Tyrell-Smith factory Rudge, which finished third in the 1932 Junior TT: Unrestored, with years of wonderful patina. Owner Mike Farrall.

Honda CR110: Honda’s minuscule 50cc mechanical marvel. Beautifull­y restored by owner Pete Parnham.

MV 500cc Three-Cylinder: Used with great effect by Italian ace Giacomo Agostini. Owner Martyn Simpkins.

1984 Ducati TT2: Privateer Ducati built for the 1984 Formula 2 World Championsh­ip by Moto Cinelli. Owner Malc Wheeler.

Joey Dunlop RC45: Honda’s follow-up model to the RC30. Hard to tame, but made a TT winner by Joey. Owner Barry Steels.

1980 Mitsui Yamaha TZ250: The very machine on which Charlie Williams won his last TT. Owner Mike Farrall.

TT winning sidecar: The Birchall Brothers’s own TT winning and recordbrea­king sidecar outfit.

Yamaha R1: The machine on which Steve Plater made his TT debut, launching his successful Mountain Course career, and on which he was the fastest TT newcomer at that point.

TBC – Norton Manx: The privateers‘s choice for many years.
