ONE-ARMED racer set sights on the TT ...and he need your help!

-

Chris Ganley, a military veteran and rifleman from Clevedon who suffered life-changing injuries after a big bike accident in 2014, is now aiming to race on the iconic Mountain Course in 2023.

Chris races in the Thundersport GB Championship, competing against able-bodied riders of all levels. He's more than proved himself, finishing third in his first race and fourth overall in the Championship last year. Although he's currently gearing up for the 2019 season, he's already got his sights firmly set on the Isle of Man for 2023.

“The dream has always being to be the first ever one-armed disabled rider to finish the TT course,” said Chris. “This will take massive commitment from not only myself but also my loyal team. We have to be realistic and take small steps. The next goal is to get a 600cc race bike and test it in the Thundersport GB championship. In 2019 my lap times still have to come down, but this year on the Yamaha R1 I have knocked seconds off my previous bests. I'm aiming to compete at the Isle Of Man in 2023 and I need to keep hitting my milestones to get there. I must keep improving, and that's why I'm glad to be in the Thundersport GB Championship.

“I would like to thank my parents, as they had to go through the pain of my accident and then watch me get back on the thing that almost killed me. They supported me, even though they aren't keen on the idea. Thanks also to my in-laws, as they are extremely proud of what I've achieved, and my team of amazing individuals who without question get me and the bike ready to race at every meeting. Most of all I would like to thank my wife and son, Charlotte and Alexander, who have supported me through some troubling times and supported what I want to do, no matter what!”
