SPY SHOTS: CFMoto’s MT-800 adventure bike

-

Here’s a first look at the KTM-powered adventure bike from the Chinese factory. Ok, so the quality is a bit rough, but here’s the first proper snap of the CFMoto MT-800. After catching a glimpse of CFMoto’s MT-800 in test camouflage a couple of months ago, we’ve finally got a look at the new adventure bike in finished form. The bike’s been built as part of a partnership between KTM and the Zhejiang Chunfeng Power Co., which has looked after Chinese production for the Duke 125, 200 and 390. But the latest bike to come out of the agreement is CFMoto’s MT-800, which is powered by KTM’s 799cc parallel twin LC8c engine. That means that the MT-800 is essentially the stepbrother of the KTM 790 Adventure. Away from the parallel twin-cylinder LC8c 799cc engine – which kicks out 95.2hp at 8,000rpm and 88Nm at 6,600rpm – it gets matching WP suspension too, but that’s where the similarities end. That’s because the CFMoto MT-800 is aimed at riders who want to tour, not ones who want to hit the trails like the KTM’s 790 Adventure. It gets spoked rims with 19” and 17” tubeless tyres, double front brake discs, luggage racking, auxiliary spotlights and a lower-slung seat. AAt this stage we still ddon’t’ kknow a huge amount about CFMoto’s latest machine – there’s been no news on pricing, full technical specification or pricing – but there’s one thing we know for sure: we’re excited to see this bike in the flesh. If the Chinese factory’s latest output is anything to go by, this thing’s going to be a real contender for cash-conscious riders in the busy adventure bike market.
