Adventure potential: Sinnis Terrain 125

Are you riding on an A1 licence? Do you love adventure bikes? Then this new Sinnis could be exactly what you're looking for...

The British importer has just revealed the latest version of its learner-legal adventure bike

The sales of 125cc motorcycles have gone through the roof over the past 12 months as a result of the Government discouraging commuters from using public transport. In fact, many manufacturers have struggled to get enough bikes into the country to meet the demand. But there’s good news if you’re a fan of adventure motorcycling and you’ve got your hands on an A1 licence.

Brighton-based Sinnis has just updated its much-loved Terrain 125. We spent a bit of time on the previous version and were won over by its easy-going nature, big bike feel and the fact that it came with luggage thrown in. It wasn’t the quickest or most sophisticated learner ride on the market, but it seemed like the perfect entry point into adventure motorcycling.

The Terrain will be powered by a water-cooled single-cylinder engine, which kicks out 12.7hp at 9500rpm and 10.5Nm at 7500rpm. It’ll reach a top speed of 55mph, comes with a 14-litre fuel tank and gets a learner-friendly seat height of 780mm.

Just like the previous model, the baby adventure bike gets a set of panniers as standard, and for a little bit of extra cash you can opt for a full suite of luggage by adding a 48-litre top box too. It gets a basic analogue instrument panel to display revs, in addition to a more modern digital display that offers speed, gear, fuel, time and mileage information. There’s a USB socket for charging which sits right next to the display. The 17-inch 10-spoke cast aluminium wheels come clad with a 100/80-17 tyre up front and a 120/80-17 tyre at the rear. Suspension comes in the form of a set of telescopic forks and a single shock absorber (with spring preload adjustment) – while stopping is looked after by hydraulic discs front and rear.

Available in UK dealers this month, it costs £2,899 (excluding OTR costs) and will be available in both white and red colour schemes.
