NOISE LIMIT

-

I note in MSL that some authorities are trialling cameras fitted with microphones to record the details of noisy vehicles.

Some may perceive this as being an infringement of personal liberties, such as C.C.T.V. cameras with personal recognition technology.

No one in London would think it a bad thing to reduce the amount of pollution in the air that is apparently killing thousands of people, so why should we suffer unnecessary noise pollution?

When I was a teenager, I had a Norton 250 twin that I had fitted with megaphone silencers, and each day on my ride to work I used to change down approaching a roundabout, giving it plenty of revs. I used to think to myself, 'I bet they're enjoying this at the bus stop' (I used to time the gear change to coincide with the bus queue). In actual fact they were probably thinking, 'Noisy bastard, should be banned!'

The population of the world has doubled since then and cities are becoming more crowded, so perhaps we should all be more considerate to our neighbours!

I wonder why it's only motorcycles that are blamed for being loud. Where I live, there are more noisy' boy racer' cars than bikes( roughly five noisy carsto one noisy bike). I guess the noise monitors don' t disc rim in at et, hey penalise both bikes and cars, but I find it interesting that in the news it is mostly motorcycles that are considereda problem.

Happy riding( noisy or otherwise)!
