The Belgian brand have uprated their Hammer jeans (hence the Hammer 2 designation), with the traditional denim design being an aramid-lined, classic five pocket jean design that you’d expect from normal jeans (and that the market demands), and there is no external clue with regards to stitching lines, etc., that they’re specifically made for motorcycle use.

They come fitted with knee armour that rates at Level 2 CE, and have pockets for hip armour (available separately), and there are also three colour options of black, stone-washed and dark blue (as tested).

The front pockets are nice and deep, although the rear are perhaps a little too shallow to carry a wallet in confidence on a ride, and those who get frustrated with buttons will be pleased to hear that they have a zip fly.

The pockets for the armour are made from cotton, with a Velcro closure, and the knee armour is soft Level 2 cupped armour, with a decent length to it so it always covers your kneecap, unlike some other armour that rides up over the top of your patella when riding, which is fortunate as the armour pockets aren’t adjustable for placement.

The aramid lining covers the seat of the jeans, finishing just above the back of the knee, while finishing just below the knee on the front, and you really notice that the lower legs aren’t lined, especially on cold mornings, but this will be a great relief when riding on hotter days, or when you’re taking a stroll off the bike.

There’re double-sized belt loops, so whether you’re a thin belt or chunky thick leather belt kind of person, there’s no uncomfortable creasing around the waist. And they’re a great price, too!
