IRON DAMES SIGN TWO YOUNG DRIVERS AHEAD OF KARTING CHAMPIONSHIPS

-

Iron Dames has signed new young drivers Vicky Farfus and Mia Oger for an extensive testing programme ahead of the ROK and WSK karting championships.

Launched in 2018 by the former FIA Women in Motorsport Commission President Deborah Mayer, Iron Dames is an all-female driver team and programme aiming to bring women to the pinnacle of motorsport.

Young Brazilian-italian driver Vicky Farfus signed with the Iron Dames after impressing at a scouting initiative in Aragorn in December. The 12-year-old recently made the jump from karting to racing internationally in the Mini 60 class, also finishing third in her class at the Granja Viana 50mile go-kart race in Brazil last Christmas.

French racer Mia Oger also joined the Iron Dames after setting herself apart from the twelve drivers at the Aragon scouting initiative. Starting her karting journey at seven years old, Oger climbed through the ranks in France to compete at a national level at only 12 years old. Oger finished as the best lady in the IAME World Finals in 2022 with plans to continue competing in France as an Iron Dame.

Mayer said: “We are thrilled to welcome Vicky and Mia to the Iron Dames family. Their passion, talent and dedication are truly inspiring, and we are committed to providing them with the support and guidance they need to thrive in the world of motorsport. In recruiting these promising talents, we embrace our mission to provide opportunities, empower the younger generation and reinforce our commitment to paving the way for future generations of female racing stars.”

Both drivers will undergo extensive testing and will participate in the ROK and WSK championships sporting the Iron Dame colours. The Brazilian will still compete in the Champions Of The Future Academy Program.

The Iron Dames have enjoyed huge success since their conception in 2018, becoming the first all-female team to win a race in the World Endurance Championship at the 8 Hours of Bahrain in 2023.

In the 2022 European Le Mans Series, the Iron Dames driver Sarah Bovy secured pole position in the #83 Ferrari 488 GTE Evo LMGTE class at the 4 Hours of Portimão.

With the success of young French driver Doriane Pin in F1 Academy, the Iron Dames harness a strong roster of incredible female racing talent.
