WE LOOK AT THE SEASON SO FAR
We are at the halfway point of the British Touring Car Championship and what a season it is proving to be. Since the introduction of the NGTC regulations, the most number of winners over the course of a campaign was 11 in 2014. So far in this contest, there have already been 10 victors – and there are several competitors knocking on the door to join that club.
The increasing pace from the factory Subaru team – headed up by Jason Plato and Colin Turkington – has given the traditional benchmarks Honda plenty to think about.
But both of those efforts have been put in the shade by BMW. Two of the three Wsr-run cars sit comfortably on top of the table.
Here, we run through the season so far and look at the prospects for the next 15 rounds.
There was very little that could be done to the BMWS at the end of the 2015 season. The cars were strong and race winners, and there were no upgrades coming for the engines. But what the team did set to work on was understanding the new components, supplied by the RML firm.
They did that, and the rewards came straight away: Rob Collard was a winner at the second meeting of the season at Donington Park. But it is Tordoff who sits on top of the points and he has really hit his stride over the last two meetings before the break: Oulton Park and Croft. Both of those circuits are rear-wheel-drive friendly, but three Yorkshiremanpodiums in Cheshireto the top and of anotherthe points.at Croft pushed the

Collard’s form at Oulton was hampered as he collected suspension damage when he was on his way to a decent haul of points in race two. That put him on the back foot but a win at Croft clawed him back towards the top of the table.
Alongside those two, Jack Goff has been getting to grips with competing in a rear-wheel-drive British Touring Car and has been impressive. Wins are surely on the horizon for him.
