United Autosports secured the European Le Mans Series LMP3 class title at Spa-francorchamps last weekend.

The Anglo-american crew ran the trio of Christian England, Alex Brundle and Mike Guasch to second place at the Belgian track, handing them enough points to secure the LMP3 division crown with a race to spare.

Brundle, who has helped the team to three race wins and two further podium finishes this year, said: “It’s a mega feeling and a massive and fully deserved achievement for the team.

“It’s only nine months since United took delivery of its first LMP3 car, so it shows how awesome a job the team has done. If we’ve not had the fastest car, good strategy has kept us in contention every time.”

EX-F3 driver England, who returned to racing this year after a 13-year break, added: “Coming back after such a long time away, and to win this title in my debut season is unbelievable. We’ve been faultless all year – the drivers and team haven’t put a foot wrong.”

The race was won outright by the Dragonspeed LMP2 team of Nicolas Lapierre, Henrik Hedman and Briton Ben Hanley. Graff ’s team of Paul Petit, Enzo Guibbert and Eric Trouillet won LMP3. Former British GT racer Rory Butcher won the LMGTE class in the JMW Motorsport Ferrari 458 he shared with Rob Smith and Andrea Bertolini to close on that class title.
