GT4 ace Bartholomew enters Ginetta Supercup before GT3 test

-

British GT4 runner-up Jack Bartholomew will join Century Motorsport for this weekend’s Ginetta GT4 Supercup finale ahead of a winter of GT3 testing.

Bartholomew, 17, will handle one of Century’s G55 racers in the season finale in Kent as team-mate to Jack Mitchell. It will be Bartholomew’s first experience of a Ginetta, having raced a Beechdean AMR Aston Martin Vantage to second in the British GT4 Championship this year.

“I know [Century boss] Nathan Freke, having raced against him this year, and the seat was free,” said Bartholomew. “As a GT driver you have to adapt to new cars, so it will be good to try out what I’ve been racing against. The Supercup G55 has more aero and different tyres than the GT4 car, and I’m told they’re different in feeling, but there is no pressure.”

Bartholomew will have a maiden GT3 test with Beechdean AMR at Snetterton this week as he assesses 2017 options. “I’d love to stay with Beechdean,” he added. “The new emphasis on younger drivers for British GT3 next year makes it appealing. It’s tough to come straight in and be up against drivers like Jonny Adam and Rob Bell [graded gold and platinum respectively].” forward to the Grand Finals in Italy.

Josh Collings dominated the Senior Rotax final but the fight for the championship took place some way behind the flying Welshman. With four corners to go the title belonged to Josh White but a last-gasp move from Jack Mccarthy saw him take second on the road, and the championship, by a whisker. White, Mccarthy and Josh Skelton all qualify for the Rotax Grand Finals.

A top 10 finish for Harry Moore was enough to take the TKM Extreme championship despite Kyle Sproat’s best efforts as a surprised Sam Fowler claimed the race win. A dynamic last lap from Bradley White, which saw him gain three places, gave him the Junior TKM crown by two points from Abbi Pulling. Privateer Lee Whittingham won the race.

Despite an earlier exclusion Gordon Mutch snatched the Junior X30 honours from Angus Fender on the last lap. Oliver Clarke won the race while Mutch, Fender and Ethan Pitt qualify for the International finals at Le Mans next month.

A win for Matt Davies helped him take Senior X30 honours from Brett Ward and Collings, who will all represent the UK at Le Mans.
