Double win for Harris pushes him towards the top

Going into the weekend, Tom Harris languished in 10th place in the shootout points table, but winning both finals has catapulted him into third place in the standings, 64 points behind leader Nigel Green.
With two rounds and over 150 points on offer, he has reduced the odds on him recapturing the title he won back in 2012.
Harris made light work of the treacherous track conditions caused by persistent rain during the evening; he chalked up a heat and final double.
“I have been racing in America on clay tracks, and when they are wet it is very slippery, that helped me tonight where it felt very similar,” said Harris.
The following day at Northampton Harris didn’t have it so easy. Although he barged his way into the lead around the halfway point, a series of yellow flags bunched the field and he had Rob Speak closing in on him at the end of the race.
Harris said: “I think I might have boiled the brake fluid, and on the last restart I hit the brake pedal but it didn’t slow me down as much as I thought.
