Milner to contest Junior Winter series

-

Junior Saloon Car title contender Katie Milner will compete in the Ginetta Junior Winter Series at Brands Hatch as part of an expanded line up for Elite Motorsport.

Milner finished second in the JSCC points but an appeal against a technical exclusion at Knockhill is set to be heard soon and could promote her to champion. She will be too old to race in Ginetta Juniors next year but will use the Winter Series to gain experience in the Ginetta G40 as she considers a move into the GT5 Challenge, which uses the same car.

“GT5 is the perfect option at the moment but we’ve not made any decisions,” said her double British Rally champion father Jonny. “At the moment, it’s a case of taking it step by step.”

Milner will join regular Elite driver Harry King and Rob Boston racer Greg Johnson at the team.

“We’ve done three test days with Katie and she took to it extremely well,” said boss Eddie Ives. “She’s got a bit of outright pace to find but should be fine by the winter series.

“We’re increasing and trying not to take on too much too quickly and plan to run three or four next year. It’s almost two years since I got my first Ginetta Junior and I would’ve been pretty happy to be where we are now.”

Race winner King will be one of the title favourites, along with fellow rookie stars Sebastian Priaulx and Daniel Harper. Fox Motorsport will also make its debut in the category, as reported previously in MN.
