VIEWS OF THE BRC
The organiser: Iain Campbell – BRC championship manager
“After just 12 months it is too early to tell but the signs are good: a one million reach on terrestrial TV, 35 million impressions on social media, 136 registered competitors, average 40 entries on each event, all R5 cars involved in the championship, seven manufacturers and a great Junior competition.”
The TV: Mark James – Hayfisher
“I thought the revamped BRC was a great success. Elfyn and Robert were two worthy BRC and Junior title winners, while I also had lots of other stories and great footage with which to tell them. Hopefully the series – and the TV coverage – can both continue to grow in 2017.”
The driver: David Bogie – 2011 BRC champion
“Growing up, I followed the F2 era with all the manufacturers. You’d probably say where it went after that was a decline. Coming back to where it is now, I think this is the start of something big. It looks like things are set to improve so it’s positive. I can only see things improving.”
The event: Gary Milligan – Ulster clerk of the course
“The British championship certainly deteriorated but this year it certainly had increased interest. In terms of entry and saleability of the event it made a big difference for us. The fact that the BRC was so healthy this year made a big difference for us in being able to run an international event.”
