British F4 champion Fewtrell to move to Eurocup with Tech 1 Racing Renault UK Clio Cup racer Pidgley switches to Pyro for 2017 season
Renault UK Clio Cup racer Ollie Pidgley will return to the frontrunning Team Pyro squad for 2017.
The 19-year-old finished 16th in the standings with Ciceley Motorsport this year in his maiden season in the category after making the switch from MSA Formula.
Pidgley previously raced for Pyro in the Michelin Clio Cup Series in 2013 and 2014.
“I’m so happy to be back with Team Pyro for next season,” he said. “It’s where I started forward to it but it’s going to be a challenge,” said Fewtrell. “I think it’s a really high level championship and it’s the best option of those around. The benefits of winning it are great and it would be good to have on your CV. It’s a very attractive championship but it will be really hard racing against second-year drivers.”
Fewtrell admits it will be tough to repeat the achievement of 2015 F4 champion Lando Norris, who won the Eurocup title in his maiden season this year.
“A solid target would be top three in the championship,” he said. “I want to win it of course but you have got to be realistic.”
Fewtrell will be joined at the team by BRDC British F3 racer Thomas Maxwell, who finished seventh in the points with Sean Walkinshaw Racing. Completing Tech 1’s quartet are the returning Gabriel Aubry and Thomas Neubauer – who will complete a first full season in single-seaters.
