Touring car man Moffat to link up with Century in Ginetta G55 GT4 for January Dubai 24 Hours event

-

British Touring Car racer Aiden Moffat will make his endurance racing debut in next month’s Dubai 24 Hours, teaming up with the Century Motorsport outfit.

Scotsman Moffat, 20, will share one of the British GT squad’s Ginetta G55 GT4 racers with team head Nathan Freke, Ben Green and Jack Mitchell.

The twice-around-the-clock event at the Dubai Autodrome on January 13/14 will be Moffat’s first endurance outing. While he will return to the BTCC with a Ciceley Racing Mercedes A Class next season, Moffat is also keen to fit in more sportscar races over 2017.

“I’m really looking forward to the 24 hours, and it will be a new experience for me,” said Moffat. “Although we’re staying in the BTCC, I intend to explore one or two different options over the coming months.

“The rear-wheel-drive Ginetta is certainly different and with the endurance race it will give me a great opportunity to hone my skills and racecraft and develop for the future.”

Century won the GT4 class of the 24 Hours this year. Freke added: “Without a doubt we’re going back looking for a repeat result. We’ve got a brilliant line-up with some of the country’s best young talent. Hopefully we can pull off another top result.”

Century will also field a Ginetta G57-P2 prototype for Porsche Carrera Cup regulars, brothers Euan and Daniel Mckay in the supporting three-hour races.
