Harris aiming big on Chili Bowl challenge
Leading BRISCA F1 racer Tom Harris will travel to America again in January to take part in the prestigious Chilli Bowl Midget event, his third attempt at the event.
Alongside a sporadic campaign in BRISCA F1 in the UK, 2016 featured a breakthrough in Harris’ Sprint Car racing in the US with his first heat win in the category and reaching the ultimate ‘A Main’ twice.
Harris said: “We are getting there, we just need to spend more time out there to build up our consistency but we are definitely causing the homegrown racers a bit more trouble.”
Harris will be the sole British driver to head to Tulsa, Oklahoma, in January for the Chili Bowl indoor Midget competition. It takes place on January 9, 2017.
“This year we had a second in the heat and eventually reached the F Main, a major improvement on our debut in 2015,” says Harris.
“Experience of racing on this surface is vital and that comes with experience. Indoors and out of the sun, it behaves very differently to an outdoor track. With another year under my belt I’m confident we can get much further.”
