RCIB CONFIRMS GT4 DEFENCE
Team Hard signs BTCC man and rising star
Defending British GT4 champion team RCIB Insurance Racing has signed former British Touring Car driver Howard Fuller and GT Cup graduate Sam Webster for this year.
Fuller and Webster will share the same Ginetta G55 GT4 that helped the Team Hard-operated squad win the British GT4 Teams’ title in 2016 in the hands of William Phillips and Jordan Stilp.
Fuller contested partseasons in the BTCC with Team Hard in both 2012 and 2013, handling a Honda Civic and a Vauxhall Insignia for the team.
Webster competed in both the World and European KZ karting championships before his move into GT racing this year. He ran in the GT Cup with a Fox Motorsport Ginetta before doing the British GT finale at Donington Park alongside Jamie Stanley.
The team will also have former British GT champion Adam Wilcox as driver coach.
Team boss Tony Gilham said: “After winning the Teams’ title last year we’re going all-out for the Drivers’ championship this year in GT4, and we feel we’ve got a very solid driver pairing to get it.
“Sam has tested with us and was rapid right out of the box and showed how much he’s learnt with his running last year. He’s also got great karting pedigree.
“Howard will be going into his sixth year with this team and has so far not had the chance his talent and professionalism deserves and has only done bits and pieces, so he’ll benefit from a full season.
“The two have history and work very well together. Sam was a finalist in our VW Scholarship last year and Howard was his coach for that competition. They’ll be a great team.”
Webster added: “Having had a taste of British GT last year, I can’t wait to get started in my first full season of car racing.
“I know just how tough the task ahead will be. Howard has great experience as has the team.”
