ORGANISER’S STATEMENT

- Alyn Edwards Clerk of Course Cambrian Rally

On behalf of North Wales Car Club and the organising team of the Cambrian, I would like to express our heartfelt thanks to all the marshals, radio crews, Safety/medical crews, recovery teams, and the car park operators who braved and battled the weather to get to their positions on SS1 to enable us to run the stage in such terrible conditions.

We would also like to thank everyone that attempted to reach their positions on SS2 and SS3, and not forgetting all the other marshals at the other venues of the event. Unfortunately the weather beat us and the snow and sheet ice prevented you from achieving your goal and enabling us to run the stages.

The decision to cancel/abandon the event was not an easy one and one that was not taken lightly, but with a lot of sadness after all we had been through over the past few weeks, just to get it on this year, what with a cancelled event three weeks ago, then the route redesign. The team did a brilliant job of pulling it together.

The team responded and acted in a totally dedicated and professional way, using their years of experienced to gather the information for me without hesitation, but with their total support and quick and prompt response I was able to make an informed decision about the safe running of the event. The decision was supported by the MSA Steward and the MSA Delegate.

To the team, a big thank you, for without your support I could not make the decisions that were required.

In the environment that we currently live in, we as organisers must act in a responsible manner, with due care for our competitors, marshals and spectators, making the correct decisions to ensure we have a safe event so that motorsport may continue in the form that we all enjoy in the UK. Sometimes we have to make decisions that will not always meet the approval of all.
