Whitaker and jordan target tourist trophy

Mike Whitaker and Mike Jordan will bid to make Goodwood history by getting their TVR Griffith onto the podium in the Tourist Trophy.

Whitaker’s ex-tommy Entwistle Griffith raced at Goodwood in 1965 but has never before gained an entry to the Revival weekend’s headline race. However, after a win during the Members’ Meeting in March, it now has the chance to take on the Jaguar E-types, AC Cobras and Ferraris in the hour-long race for pre ’66 GT cars.

The car’s TT celebration debut coincides with the re-launch of the TVR marque during the Revival and Whitaker says they are going to push for a strong result. “We want to give the car a great showing and there’s no reason we can’t be in the mix. It’s the first front-running TVR to race in the TT.”

Whitaker acquired the well-known TVR, registered BFR 400B, after it was owned by Colin Archibold for 29 years. In period, it was the works development car and former World War II fighter pilot Entwistle raced it at Goodwood in June 1965. “It’s in full period specification,” said Whitaker. “The rebuild by Nigel Reuben was all about keeping it as it was in 1965 when it was the first Griffith.”

The incredibly strong entry for the TT includes the E-type of Chris Ward and Gordon Shedden, which is bidding to complete a hattrick of victories. The JD Classics entry is one of the six E-types and nine AC Cobras in the stellar field.
