Organiser: Wigan & District MC When: May 13 Where: Three Sisters Race Circuit, Wigan Championships: ANWCC; SD34; 6r4.com Three Sisters Rally Challenge Stages: 12 Starters: 51 John and Alex Stone took victory in their Ford Fiesta S2500 on the Cetus Stages ahead of the MG Metro 6R4 of Ian and Lyn Rowlance and the Vauxhall Corsa of Ryan and David Burns.

Stone headed the standings from the start while Rowlance was his closest challenger throughout the day with only three seconds separating the pair at the mid-point.

Stone then took a clean sweep of fastest times through the afternoon stages to cement what became a convincing win with Rowlance having no answer to the Fiesta’s pace.

A faultless performance from Ryan and David Burns meant the Vauxhall Corsa crew secured third place after Eric Roberts and Merfyn Evans retired their Escort Mk2 with oil pump failure.

Andrew Morris and Chloe Thomas then claimed top Mk2 honours despite running an engine sourced during the week from a scrapyard.

Dave Roberts and Dave Owen brought their Subaru Impreza home fifth, six seconds clear of the Metro 6R4 of John Saunders and Tony Hart.

A change of tyres helped Tim Whiting and Jord Duxbury move their Escort Mk2 up the order to finish seventh.

More Mk2s followed in the hands of Rob Cox and Joe Graham, who had a coming together with a tyre wall on SS4, and Berwyn and Mari Haf Evans, who recorded their best-ever result.
