Bullock’s dash rewarded with Junior trophy Modern F1 cars on show at Silverstone

-

Australian racer Marty Bullock won the recent Baltic sector of the Formula Junior Diamond Jubilee World Tour, but only after a dash back to the UK to change cars.

The weekend before the three-weekend tour of Lithuania, Latvia and Sweden, Bullock was racing his Lotus 27 in Zolder, Belgium, when it was damaged in a startline accident.

His plan had been to head east from Zolder but instead Bullock rushed back to his temporary UK base and loaded up his rare Wren instead. After a quick engine change, he headed back across the channel for the trek to Lithuania.

He duly finished all seven races in the Baltic States to claim the Curt Lincoln Trophy. Alongside around 90 period Formula 1 cars racing in HGPCA and Masters Historic F1 races, more recent F1 cars will be demonstrated at the Silverstone Classic on July 20-22.

Grand prix cars from seven decades of Silverstone’s F1 history will be celebrating the circuit’s 70th anniversary and a special ‘Legends of Modern Formula One’ showcase has been arranged.

The collection ranges from a 1984 Toleman-hart TG184 of the Ayrton Senna era, to a Ferrari-powered Sauber C30 in which both Kamui Kobayashi and Sergio Perez scored points during 2011. Cars from BAR, Jordan and Lotus are also included for track demonstrations on Friday and Saturday.
