A dramatic late-day charge over the final three stages turned a six-second deficit into a three-second win for Ford Escort Mk2 pairing of Oliver Davies/ben Innis, denying Martin Waters (BMW 325i) a third consecutive win.

In mixed conditions, Waters led determinedly until in the closing miles when Davies upped his pace and overturned the result.

Behind the leading pair, a battle for third raged between Joshua and Samantha Davey (Darrian T90), Jon and Andy Burnell (Escort G3) and Mike Raymond / Scott Smith (Escort Mk2).

Burnell finished third after Raymond lost time with an eighth-stage spin, and Davey hit a tree stump. Richard Barrow/andrew Richards’s Subaru Impreza inherited fifth.
