TEST HOPE FOR JORDAN’S WRX BID

British touring car convert feeling more positive after austrian outing last week

British Touring Car ace Andrew Jordan is confident of a strong result in the French round of the World Rallycross Championship at Loheac next month after a positive 46-lap test at Fuglau in Austria last week.

Jordan made his first start of the season in MJP Racing Team Austria’s Ford Fiesta Supercar at the British round of World RX at Silverstone, but with the car finished just before the event, he wasn’t able to make the semi-finals.

“The test was really good, I think if we’d raced at Silverstone with the car how it was when I tested last week, we really would have been pretty strong,” Jordan told MN. “It’s a massive improvement, the car feels very good and drivable. I’m not saying we’re going to go and challenge the [championship leading] Volkswagens because that isn’t going to happen, but I think we have a car to get through to the semi-finals if we can keep things clean in Loheac, and then challenge from there.”

The Loheac event on September 1 has a capacity entry in all classes, with Jordan’s MJP team mate Toomas Heikkinen, former World RX race winner Davy Jeanney and British RX contender Ollie O’donovan all making their first starts of the campaign.

Jordan said: “I’ve never raced at Loheac but I’m going there confident that we’ve got a car that is in the ballpark. Hopefully fine-tune it from there. That should then give me a bit more time to focus on the driving and learning a new circuit, I’m feeling positive.”
