British GT the target for Ginetta frontrunner Kibble

Ginetta Junior race winner Patrick Kibble is aiming to join the British GT grid next season, having finished fourth in his rookie season of car racing.

The 16-year-old G40 GT5 driver competed in the two Sports & GT races at the Rockingham Super SendOff meeting to gain more signatures towards his senior licence.

But he told MN that he would likely move away from the marque, should he join British GT.

“We’re here to get signatures for my senior licence so we can upgrade and compete in British GT next year,” Kibble said. “That’s what we’re hoping for.

“It probably won’t be in a G55 [GT4 car], we’re talking to some other teams. We haven’t completely decided yet.

“Hopefully we’ll get it done before Christmas and get out in a car.”

Lee Brookes, boss of Total Control Racing who ran Kibble this season, has previously signed three-time British GT champion Jonny Adam and European endurance racer Tom Onslow-cole.

He added: “The kid’s done mega, that’s why I’ve advised him not to do another year in Juniors. He’s better off moving on, wherever he goes he’ll be quick. We’ll help him whenever we can, as a friend.”

The G40 ran with restrictors in the open class at Rockingham, meaning across the two races Kibble finished 25th and 15th out of 32 starters.
