FIA Formula 3 frontrunne­r Jake Hughes says he was expecting better driving standards at Spa as its second race followed Anthoine Hubert’s fatal F2 crash, and was disappoint­ed racing was not more “measured” in the wake of the tragedy. “After what happened yesterday… I understand people want to push hard and go for eighth as it’s the last point available, [but] people think they can do anything at Spa,” said Hughes, who was clipped into a spin.

“At tracks like Spa and Monza, stuff can happen anytime and the speeds we’re going, it’s not going to be a small one most of the time.”… Ricky Collard and R-motorsport Aston Martin teammate Marvin Kirchhofer (right) came away from the Nurburgrin­g Blancpain GT World Challenge weekend with a victory in the Sunday race after the leading two WRT Audis collided in front of them. Collard had closed on Charles Weerts and Ezequiel Perez Companc to make it a three-way lead fight when Perez Companc turned in on Weerts and took both out… Indycar will drop the under-fire Pocono oval from its calendar for 2020 and replace it with a return to the short Richmond track for the first time since 2009. Pocono had already been in jeopardy for commercial reasons even before the massive crash at the start of this year’s race, which Takuma Sato was heavily criticised for triggering as it came 12 months after the accident at the track that left Robert Wickens with life-changing injuries.
