Ginetta has brought Formula 2 frontrunne­r Luca Ghiotto into its LMP1 line-up for the next World Endurance Championsh­ip round at Fuji. The Italian had set Ginetta’s best lap in the pre-season Barcelona test, and will replace Charlie Robertson alongside Ben Hanley and Egor Orudzhev in Japan… Injured F2 racer Juan Manuel Correa has been brought out of the induced coma he had been in since arriving at a London hospital earlier this month. Correa, who was involved in the Spa crash in which Anthoine Hubert died, developed Acute Respirator­y Distress Syndrome and had been on a life support machine. His family warned that he was still “in a race against time” with the severe leg injuries on which surgery has not been possible so far due to the condition of his lungs… Formula E is reshufflin­g its 2019-20 calendar after adding a race in Jakarta. The Indonesian event will take place in June next year, meaning adjustment­s to several of the late-season dates – although London’s double-header finale at EXCEL on July 25-26 remains in its original date… The inaugural event in Australia’s new S5000 category was truncated early by a massive crash for Alex Davison, who escaped unhurt. The series for one-make V8-powered Ligiers is inspired by the classic Formula 5000 concept and designed to become an Indycar equivalent for Australia. Davison speared into the barriers in a safety car-blighted feature race after a brush with Matt Brabham. James Golding was declared the winner ahead of star guest racer Rubens Barrichell­o.
