JAMAICAN BACK FOR MORE IN RX2

-

Jamaican driver Fraser Mcconnell will remain with the Olsbergsmse team for a second RX2 International Series campaign this season.

Mcconnell finished on the podium in the World RX support series at the season opener in Spain, and ended the year fourth in the points in only his second rallycross campaign last year.

“I didn’t have any expectations last year,” said Mcconnell. “I didn’t know any of the tracks, the only prior information I had was either from Youtube or video games, so it inevitably took me a little while to get fully up to speed. If you’re playing catch up in rallycross, you’re not going to be able to fight for the win.”

While he will remain with the Andreas Eriksson-owned OMSE outfit for 2020, Mcconnell is hoping to follow in the footsteps of 2019 RX2 team-mate Oliver Eriksson by racing a Supercar in Rallyx Nordic events alongside his Supercar Lites programme.

“It’s shaping up to be another tough season in RX2, with a very high calibre of competition,” said Mcconnell. “The level seemed to increase with each round last year. Everybody is fast.

“Everybody is capable of putting down quick lap times. The difference is in the finer details – the hundredths if not thousandths-of-a-second that separate the field.”

Joining Mcconnell in the OMSE RX2 squad will be Swede Martin Enlund, who, having raced in his home round of the series last season, will progress to a full-time campaign in 2020.
